The leisure industry is one of the highest foreign income generators whilst being the fastest developing of the industries in the country. It's no wonder then that the Asia Capital group have expanded its reach to include this sector as well through its leisure arm of Asia Leisure Pvt. Ltd.
The scope of Asia Leisure Pvt Ltd. includes the nurturing of high end leisure properties and tourist outlets of the likes of the Park Street Hotel in Colombo, the Tamarind Hill Hotel , Galle and The River House in Balapitiya of which the latter was the very first Sri Lankan property to be featured in the popular Conde Nast Traveller's exclusive list of the hottest new hotels to visit in the world. In addition, the Tamarind Hotel in Galle has been recepient of an award in the gold category of the international Quality Summit Awards designated by BID Business Initiative Directions, in New York.
Asia Leisure is also involved in setting up a tourist destination in Balapititya which will be a beach front property. The target date of completion for the project is 2012. It is envisaged that the resort will boast of very modernistic chic ambience, merging with very typical embellishments of local culture in each of the 26 rooms, where two of those rooms will be designated presidential suites while every room will offer a spectacular view of the sea.
Currently, the leisure entity is looking at harnessing the demand on budget beach accommodation that has engulfed the North & East of the country in Jaffna and Trincomalee, consequent to the end of a 30 year civil war.
