As a professional banker Mr. Muthukumarana has over 40 years worth of experience in the banking and finance industry. He has held the following posts throughout his extensive career -
- The senior most Deputy General Manager at the Hatton National Bank PLC.
- Managing Director/CEO of Pan Asia Bank PLC.
- Chairman, Ceylon Fisheries Corporation.
- Founder Director of Capital Reach Holdings Group Ltd.
- For one year ending August 2009, he served as a Consultant to the Government of Bangladesh, on an Asian Development Bank Project, Strategic Development in Capacity Building and Skills Development for Bankers in Bangladesh.
- Was a Director of the CRIB.
- Was a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka (IBSL) .
At present he holds the following positions ;
- Chairman of Asia Assets Finance Limited
- Chairman of SEEDS (Guarantee) Limited
- Chairman of Deshodaya Development Finance Co. Limited (Registered company but not operational)
- Director Asia Siyaka Commodities Limited
Mr. Muthukumarana derives much of his experience in the fields of Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance, Corporate Credit, Project Finance, Rural Credit, and Micro Finance. He has been instrumental in introducing many long lasting Banking and Micro Finance solutions in Sri Lanka. He holds an MBA from the Post-Graduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and has followed courses in Advanced Credit and International Banking at Vereins and West Bank Hamburg and Midland Bank London in 1979 and 1982.
In addition he has held memberships in prestigious associations such as the Society for International Development (SID) Brussels, and of JCI International, where he is a Senator, Lions International and Rotary International. Mr. Muthukumarana was also a member of the Task Force for Industrial Policy Formulation, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK and Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka and also a member of the Professional Bankers Association of Sri Lanka.
He holds a certificate in project management at the Arthur D Little Management Education Institute, Boston, USA and a diploma in Corporate Planning & Management Development at Cranfield University, UK.
